Gerry Gatto, CIM®
Portfolio Manager

A graduate of John Molson School of Business with a Major in Finance, Gerry joined the firm after working as an advisor with a prominent Canadian Bank. He prides himself on his ability to offer tailored tax and estate planning strategies for high net worth clients. His deep understanding of financial markets allows him to design personalized investment strategies in order to maximize retirement income on a risk-adjusted basis while at the same time maintaining tax efficiency. This has allowed him to effectively manage their wealth and accurately represents his image as their personal Chief Financial Officer and not only their advisor. His service offering caters to high net worth families as well as business owners and executives.

David Bélair-Bergman, CFA
Portfolio Manager

With over 10 years of experience, David understands that advice goes beyond numbers on a page. He and his clients work together to envision and create a path to their financial future. Along the way, he helps them tackle the issues that are most important to them including retirement, risk management, tax planning, protecting their loved ones, and transferring their wealth to the next generation. Working with his team, they provide peace of mind for successful families and business owners so they can focus on the things that matter most to them. David is also a CFA charterholder.

Stephanie Humer
Administrative Assistant

Stephanie graduated from DHBW Heidenheim with a Bachelor of Economics, Banking and Finance. After completing her studies she worked in the equity derivatives department at a prominent European financial institution. She then spent several years working in the banking industry before joining the Gatto Bergman Group. Stephanie is an integral member of the team and handles the entirety of the administrative and logistical work.

Francis Latour CPA, LLM (TAX)
Regional Vice-President, Wealth Planning

As Regional Vice-President, Wealth Planning, Francis works closely with our high net worth clients to identify issues and provide complex, tactical wealth planning support that complements their wealth plans. Francis has a particular focus on tax and financial planning strategies for business owners, professionals, and other affluent individuals and families.

Francis joined CI Assante Private Client in 2016 after working as a senior tax manager in the Montreal office of KPMG Enterprise. He was part of the KPMG Enterprise tax team for five years providing corporate and shareholder income tax planning and advisory services for private companies and their shareholders, with a concentration on high net worth individuals and owner- managed businesses. Francis also spent ten years working for EY’s tax department in Montreal providing tax advice to private corporations and their shareholders. His overall professional experience in wealth planning exceeds 20 years.

Francis is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University and a Master’s degree in taxation from HEC Montreal. He is a member of Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec (CPA Order), the association de planification fiscale et financière (APFF) and the Canadian Tax Foundation. He has presented at tax conferences such as the APFF and Canadian Tax Foundation. In addition, he has acted as a group leader for the CICA In-Depth Tax Course.

Magali Dussault-Brodeur, LL.B., DDN, M. Fisc.
Wealth Planning Consultant

As Wealth Planning Consultant, Magali works closely with our high-net-worth clients to identify issues and provide complex, tactical wealth planning support that complements their wealth plans. Magali has a particular focus on estate planning and wealth transfer strategies for business owners, professionals, and other affluent individuals and families.

Magali joined Assante Private Client in 2016 after practicing estate and trust law, along with family law, at several firms. During her time in private practice, Magali assisted clients with establishing and implementing individualized estate plans including their wills and protective mandates. She also helped clients with other aspects of their planning, such as the implementation of inter vivos trusts, marriage contracts and common law union agreements. Since 2015, Magali has been teaching trust law as part of the Master of Notarial Law program at Université de Montréal and has also taught it at Université de Sherbrooke. In addition, she has authored or co- authored articles for the Chambre des notaires du Québec and the Fiscal and Financial Planning Association. She brings over 12 years of wealth planning experience to Assante Private Client.

Magali is a notary with a Bachelor of Law degree, a graduate degree in notarial law, and a master’s degree in taxation, all from the University of Sherbrooke. She has been a member of the Chambre des Notaires du Québec since 2009. She is also a member of the Fiscal and Financial Planning Association.

Charles Blore, BA, CFA
Investment Counsellor

As an Investment Counsellor, Charles Blore provides portfolio management services and his experience to our high-net-worth clients in the Assante Private Client program. In his role, in consultation with our team and after reviewing the clients’ circumstances, he determines an appropriate asset allocation to best meet their objectives. He also provides ongoing review of client portfolios and works closely with our Wealth Planning team to ensure that our clients’ investment plans continue to meet their needs.

He brings over 10 years of diverse financial services experience to his role at Assante Private Client. Prior to joining our team in 2020, he held various senior positions with CIBC, specializing in portfolio management. He has broad experience managing North American equities, global equities, fixed income and responsible investment mandates.

Charles is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) and has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Economics from McGill University.

Tarun Suri, CPA, QAFPTM
Regional Wealth Planner

As a Regional Wealth Planner, Tarun Suri facilitates the delivery of wealth planning reports. Using a needs-based approach, Tarun helps clients identify issues and clearly define their goals to build a plan that meets their complex needs. Working alongside the Wealth Planning team, Tarun gathers pertinent financial information and delivers a strategy that addresses retirement planning, cash flow management, risk management, business planning and estate planning.

Tarun joined CI Assante Private Client in 2021. Prior to this, he was a Cross Border Wealth Planner at MCA Cross Border Advisors Inc. where he worked with clients with wealth planning needs in both Canada and the U.S. He also gained valuable experience in his previous role at PSB Boisjoli. At the firm, he performed audit, review and compilation engagements of private family-owned businesses as well as the preparation and review of personal and corporate tax returns. Prior to working at PSB Boisjoli, Tarun worked as an auditor at Deloitte where he was introduced to assurance and due diligence engagements.

Tarun is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) with a Graduate Certificate in Chartered Accountancy and a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting, with distinction from the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University. In addition, he has obtained the Qualified Associate Financial PlannerTM certification. He is also an active member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec (CPA Order) .
